So while the third term is just about to start, it's actually marking the end of the first year, only a couple assignments and two exams to go until it is over. It is amazing how quickly time has flown by, but also how much I have actually learned too.

It's been pretty fun too!

Last September, I did not know how to code. And now here I am, making my fantasies become (virtual) reality! I feel capable of making the games I have dreamed about and am actually making them! And I do have Bournemouth University to thank for that, this opportunity has been amazing.

Being able to be a Student Rep has been a very rewarding experience too: listening to my fellow students and acting on their thoughts and concerns to see real change has been fantastic. To be honest, I didn't know I had it in me. I am a quiet person and shy too, but turns out I can be extremely determined.

In addition to being a Student Rep, I was also a Residential Assistant. Planning events, looking after people in the Student Village and neverending paperwork! But I had a fantastic time, my speciality being boardgame nights, laser quest, gaming tournaments (including a Nintendo Switch Launch Party!) and lots and lots of home baked goods.

And I was good at my job. Not to say I didn't have people helping me, but I really put the extra effort in. But to my complete surprise, I won a Residential Impact Award, an accomplishment that I am very proud of. As someone who has social anxiety, being able to make a substantial change and benefit to a great number of people is humbling.

Not to say I haven't had my share of ups and downs. But I won't let my first year be defined by some bad times! It feels a little arrogant to say, but I did fantastic: achieving a good First for the vast majority of my assignments, being a productive member of the University and leaving an impact already. Damn right should I be proud of myself. Now bring on the second year.
